If Ai saves your team 10 hours per week, who get's those hours back?

Let's think about it, your finance team adopts AI, reporting becomes faster,

invoice processing requires less intervention, reconciliations become increasingly automated and suddenly, work that took 40 hours takes 30.

Now that's a productivity improvement!

But what happens next?, does the organisation reduce headcount, increase workloads, expect 50 hours of output in 40 OR does it reinvest some of that capacity into developing people, improving decisions and creating greater value?

The real test of AI adoption may not be how much time we save but maybe, just maybe it would be better that we choose what to do with that time.

There is nothing inherently wrong with organisations pursuing efficiency as financial sustainability matters. But if every productivity improvement becomes an expectation to do more with fewer people, we risk missing a much bigger opportunity.
